The first version released includes a multi-player functionality that connects friends via Facebook as well as other connected players across the world.
The app is available for immediate download on mobile via the Google Play and Apple App Stores.
The global UIPM community became immersed in virtual sports during the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, with athletes from all continents participating in new global competitions such as #LaserHomeRun and #LaserAllStars.
The release of E-Laser Run adds further credibility to the advances made in electronic sports by the governing body of Modern Pentathlon, Tetrathlon, Triathle, Biathle and Laser Run.
UIPM President, Dr Klaus Schormann said: “UIPM is committed to innovation and making our sports appeal to younger generations, and we look forward to sharing our E-sport products with the world.”
“Innovation has been a cornerstone of our movement ever since the Modern Pentathlon was founded by Baron Pierre de Coubertin and introduced to the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 and the commencement of our E-sport project is a milestone in our journey.”
This is the first version of UIPM E-Laser Run and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter of electronic sports gaming within UIPM sports. The evolution of the product will be based on player experience and feedback.
UIPM (the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne) has governed the core Olympic sport of Modern Pentathlon since its formation in 1948. Today it oversees a range of multi-discipline sports (Tetrathlon, Laser Run, Biathle/Triathle and World Schools Biathlon) which form a development pyramid with Modern Pentathlon at the top.
