How did you get started in Modern Pentathlon, and what motivated you to pursue it at the international level?

Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to learning many different skills and pursuing multiple paths. Modern pentathlon appeals to my love of learning and taking on diverse challenges. I first heard about modern pentathlon through a teammate on my college equestrian team. He competed in modern pentathlon for Guatemala at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic games. With horseback riding as my specialty, some experience in shooting sports through 4-H, and as an avid long distance runner, I felt modern pentathlon was a sport I could really pursue with passion. Learning about the dynamics of mastering five sports is a challenge. I started training for modern pentathlon in 2021 and participated in my first event at the Peachtree Regional in 2022. I quickly learned that the modern pentathlete has to both execute and master all five sports. Consistency and dedication are what lead to success in modern pentathlon. Learning how to train for and excel at all the sports teaches me resilience and flexibility. When I took up the sport, I couldn’t swim 25m without stopping, had never fenced, and didn't even know what obstacle course racing was. But, I embraced the process and gave myself to the work. I am excited to keep pursuing excellence and the joy of the sport. As I grow as a pentathlete, international competition is another step forwards both as an athlete and advocate for others to pursue their dreams and enjoy sport.

What does representing the United States on the Senior National Team mean to you?

Representing the US as an athlete has been a dream of mine ever since I watched my first Olympics on television. Being on the national team is an honor and opportunity that I am truly thankful for. I have always been motivated by more than just trying to achieve success as an individual. Beyond modern pentathlon, I am an equestrian coach and enthusiastic supporter of youth and women's sports. When I compete for the US, I hope to inspire new and young athletes to pursue their dreams and passions, no matter what they may be.

What is your favorite motivational quote?

“Having passion for work alone might be the ultimate goal of all, because the work is the only thing that is really, truly yours. You’re entitled only to your labor. You’re not entitled to the fruit of your labor. The universe guarantees no results.”
― Des Linden
